due Thursday, May 12 - Sections A, F due Friday, May 13 - D, E, G Due at the start of class, you must have planned out the information you will use to show your knowledge and understanding of the three Industrialization themes you plan to use in your paper. You can do this with three of the big box organizers, available on the student station or on the Newsies weebly page, or you can create a correctly formatted outline. I am happy to help if you would like to review outlines with me.
This should show most of the history you plan to include in your paper. It needs to be detailed so that I can understand how you are going to construct your paper. If it is not, I will not be able to provide you feedback that is particularly helpful. If you plan is not sufficient, you will need to work on it in class instead of using the computers to start typing your paper.

due Wednesday, May 18 - ALL SECTIONS! All week we've been discussing your upcoming position paper about whether or not the Disney movie "Newsies" portrays the Industrial Era in a historically accurate way. You must include a discussion of at least three of the following 5 themes:
due Thursday, April 5 - Section A due Friday, April 6 - D, E, F, G In your own words, complete short definitions for the vocab words on the Newsies Background Information sheet (on the back of the assignment). This will help you write your paper.
due Wednesday, April 27 - Sections A, D, E due Thursday, April 28 - Sections F, G Read the selection about the Homestead Strike provided in class. Vocabulary words are underlined and defined at the bottom of each page of the reading. After reading, respond to the four bulleted questions. You have two choices in terms of how you do this. You can respond in one or two complete sentences to each of the questions individually, or you can respond to all four questions in a single paragraph (since many of the questions overlap). You DO NOT need to write one paragraph for each question.
(due at the start of your block the week of 4/25) You have been assigned one of six big business leaders, the majority of whom had both positive and negative characteristics when it came to running their businesses. Your task is to introduce us to these people through an 8 1/2 x 11 in poster (that's a regular sheet of printer paper). You should include the good and the bad. You have been assigned this project for a week or more, so it will be counted as a test grade and should show care and effort. Do not leave it to the last minute. In class we talked about the phrases "captain of industry" and "robber baron". During your block we will be having a Seminar about whether or not you think these men should be considered captains of industry or robber barons. Your posters will help those who worked on other big business leaders know about your leaders' successes and short comings. Below is the assignment/grading rubric and the one page readings to provide information about each of these individuals. There are also links to alternative resources on the Industrialization page if you would like to do more research. Please do not use sources other than those I have provided. Email me or see me in school with any questions.
due Tuesday, April 12 - D, E, F due Wednesday, April 13 - A, G Read chapter 18.2 in your text book and answer questions 1 and 2 (including as and bs). Also, identify the following people or organizations:
(due at the start of your block this week) A - Tuesday, April 12 |

due Wednesday, April 4 - Sections A, E, D
due Thursday, April 7 - Sections F, G
Read chapter 11.1 and answer questions 1b, 2, 3, and 5 on a clean sheet of notebook paper and in complete sentences where appropriate.
As you are reading, please keep in mind that the Industrial Revolution is a part of industrialization, like the Triangular Trade was a part of the Columbian Exchange. Industrialization and the Industrial Revolution are NOT interchangeable. You are reading about the Industrial Revolution for homework.
