This week you were given the oration project, which counts as your first test grade of third quarter. Attached are the rubrics and speech options that we went over in class. There is additional information on the Civil War page of this weebly.

If you were absent, you will need to read all 4 of the excerpts to complete the assignment.

Mission US is a choose your own adventure, RPG-type game about various times in US History. Some of the missions are better than others (should you decide to poke around in there). This one is about using the Underground Railroad to try to get to freedom. You need to register in order to create an account to play, which will allow you to save your game and play in multiple sittings. To create a free account, please use your Latin email address as the username and the password used to see the videos. due Wednesday, January 10 - Sections E and F due Thursday, January 11 - Sections C and D In class we finished the video that sets up the Amistad case and you have started annotating the the case file. You worked with a partner to start figuring out how you would respond to the verdict questions using the historical facts and legal facts of the time. This is a pretty cut and dry case if we use modern morality and the difficulty is in setting most of those arguments aside and just using the historical and legal facts of the case.
Things got a little wonky with the snow day last week and trying to get caught up so folks are in different places with the Amistad case study. Attached here is the Case File, which you received in class on Monday if you were present. The amount you need to annotate depends on where your class is. If you would like to go back and rewatch the video to help clarify or to see if information in the case file corroborates what was in the video, it is posted on the videos page for the Civil War unit. Here are the various amounts and due dates depending on your section:
