due Thursday, November 30 - Section F due Friday, December 1- Section C due Monday, December 4 - Sections D and E During your block this week, you watched a 40 minute video about the experiences of the Corps of Discovery as they explored the Louisiana purchase. Should you want to review the video, it is posted on the video page. (Remember the capitals in the password.)
Your homework is to write a letter home as a member of the Corps of Discovery (you could choose to be Lewis, Clark, York, or any of the other members) describing and giving the significance of one of the following:
This is for Section **E** only -- to catch up for Friday due Wednesday, November 29 - Section E Complete the Nystrom mapping activity provided in class. I mentioned in class that you would need to use the scanned copies to see the different shades of purple on map C on page 33. However, my scans were made from your copies, so they aren't different (duh). Here is a link to a high quality scan were you can see the maps really well, including the purple on map C. Below is also a digital version of page 33 that you can see on your devices.
due Tuesday, November 28 - Sections E & F due Wednesday, November 29 - Sections C & D Read pages 314-316 in your textbook and write a letter as if you are James Monroe to Thomas Jefferson explaining the benefits of the Louisiana Purchase.
A Challenge (should you choose to accept it): Think about why this is so important to James Monroe. He has to convince Thomas Jefferson that this is a good idea. Why? What is he worried about? due Wednesday, November 15 - Sections E and F due Thursday, November 16 - Sections C and D Read the two pages from the History Alive! text handed out in class and included below and use the information in the reading to complete the chart comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the British and Continental armies.
Due Monday, November 13 - Sections C, D, E, and F Read the section about the Intolerable Acts on USHistory.org, a digital textbook maintained by the Independence Hall Association. Then answer the following questions using complete sentences based on the reading. Remember, the goal is to show that you did and understood the reading, so specific examples are a good idea.
I am showing you this resources because, while it is not necessarily appropriate for academic research, it is a good source for information if there are topics or aspects of US History that we are not covering in as much depth as you like. There are links on the left side to outside resources on related topics, but be careful. These sources do not appear to all be highly reliable. Questions:
due Wednesday, November 8 - Section E due Thursday, November 9 - Sections C, D, and F Read the article about the Boston Tea Party and then answer the questions that follow. Open ended questions at the end should be answered in complete sentences.
